Of all the gadgets and technologies to come out over the past decade, none have been as revolutionary and captivating as the Apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod. Over the years not only have these technologies become an integral part of our daily lives, but they've also drastically changed how we interact with mediums such as email and the internet. They've brought us closer together with technologies such as "Face Time" real time video chat, mobile instant messaging, and instant connectivity to just about anyone in the world. In short, people love their iPods and iPhones.

One thing that these gadgets are not, however, is "cheap". You can expect to pay anywhere from $100-200 for base model iPods to as much as $1000 or more for an iPad with all the bells and whistles and 3G access. One of the more popular offers is one that promises a chance to win a free iPad, free iPod, or free iPhone 4 from Apple in exchange for participating in a raffle or similar program. What these programs fail to reveal though, is that most times there are tens of thousands, sometimes even hundreds of thousands of people who are participating for what usually amounts to 1 or 2 actual free iPhones or iPads available to win. Given odds like these, it would be easier to win most lotteries than to get your hands on a free Apple iPhone.

Other offers that promise a free iPhone or iPod can be seen on Facebook in varying shapes and forms and usually involve requiring a participant to "like" a fanpage and suggest it to a certain number of their friends in order to have a shot at one. Most or all of these offers end with participants never receiving anything for their efforts let alone a free iPhone. It's silly to think that one could get a free iPad or iPod just for liking and suggesting a Facebook fanpage to their friends, but many people fall for these kinds of offers because suggesting the page to friends gives the false impression that the offer is somehow more legitimate than it really is. When trying to gauge the legitimacy of a free offer, one should ask themselves if an offer seems "too good to be true" before participating. That is to say, why would anyone give away a free iPhone 4 or iPad that costs hundreds of dollars just for suggesting a Facebook page.

The third type of offer is one that produces legitimate results in exchange for minimal effort on the part of the participant. Marketing and Research & Development departments of large companies spend a great deal of money testing their products both before releasing them on the market and after in order to better mold their products to their target users. In order to better cater their gadgets to their users, they need honest feedback from real people who use the iPhone, iPad or iPod gadgets on a daily basis.

There are websites that offer regular people the opportunity to participate in these programs by becoming Beta Testers in exchange for nothing more than their opinions and feedback about the product that they choose to test. Participants are shipped either a free iPhone, iPad, or iPod model within a few days and are asked to begin using it on a daily basis just as if they had bought one from a store. In the course of using their gadgets, they're also asked to note any features or software which they find to be extremely useful or hard to use. The only downside is that users can only participate in one Beta Tester program at a time, that is, you cannot have both a free iPhone and a free iPad shipped to you at the same time. The upside is that after using your gadget for 3-4 weeks and providing feedback on your experience, the iPhone, iPad or iPod that you were shipped is yours to keep for free.

Bangkok braces for flooding from high tides Severe flooding in Thailand Friday threatened central areas of Bangkok, a bustling capital barely above sea level and facing inundation at the next high tide predicted at 13 feet. Residents who decided to stay in their homes despite government pleas to get out waited anxiously to see if the highest tide, forecast for Saturday afternoon, would overwhelm defenses along the Chao Phraya River and its many canals. Bangkok's outer suburbs are already submerged but the the central city has so far been largely spared the misery Thailand has been suffering for months in the nation's worst flooding since 1942. But now the city must face two converging demons of water. Runoff the equivalent of 480000 Olympic-sized pools are trying to make their way south to the sea through Bangkok as high tide pushes the water in the opposite direction. "The challenge is to manage the huge runoff from the north passing via the city on its way to the Gulf of Thailand," said a Red Cross bulletin. The high tide Saturday, the Red Cross said, will put "extreme pressure" on Bangkok's elaborate system of dikes and other flood defenses. Meanwhile health concerns rose with the water levels. News Channels - Too Many or Not Enough

Needing to know everything that is going on locally, nationally and internationally is an obsession these days! There are local newscasts on in the morning - generally from 5 to 9 in the morning as well as at Noon. You also have the Evening local news on from 5 to 7 p.m. at night in most places during the week and again at 11 p.m. to wrap things up for the day. Along with this you also have the overnight news around the world on many stations. As if that were not enough for people, there are now 24-hour news channels that provide all the news you could want. The question here is this: are these TV Shows or something else altogether?

The problem is that many people do not consider news broadcasts to be a TV Show. The title question also comes into play here as well. Are there far too many news channels or not nearly enough? Well, I guess that answer would largely depend upon you, the reader, wouldn't it? Are you a person that absolutely must have every single bit of news that you can get your hands on? Or are you someone who is so sick to death of nothing but negativity in the news that you rarely ever watch it any more?

For the most part news channels and TV Shows about news channels and radio stations are popular. The TV Shows that fall into this category are "WKPR in Cincinnati" and "Midnight Caller" to name a couple. There are others as well. Here again, it goes back top the title question in another form: how much of the "news" is too much? Some say that the "news" is not really that at all. It is always good to know what is going on in the world today, it just depends of how much of the same thing you are willing to deal with.

Is News Paper Classified Advertising Effective?

This is a powerful topic that is often over looked. The age of the internet has saturated public minds for over the past twenty years or more. People still read printed material regardless of the internet craze. It amazes me as I realize how many people tend to equate the internet with scandalous activity. Printed text is regarded more trust worthy. This is of course ridiculous, however it apparently holds true for public awareness. The mass appeal ( at the time of this writing) is still with printed text, in terms of security. The average reader actually thinks printed text is more reliable. It's probably because they think there is more scrutiny involved with publishing news papers, books and magazines. You actually may know that, at the time of this writing scrutiny exists in both media forms. It's my personal experience to see internet security measures on the same level as printed material today. One form is no more secure then the other. This is like trying to analyze which is more blue, a blue crayon or the sky on a sunny day. We acknowledge, as a whole the public is basically "seasonally impressionable."

Classified advertising in news paper advertisements remains to be one of the most cost effective ways to reach the masses. Looking backward, I find Paid per Click advertising has become saturated to the point, where only a few can manipulate key words for a high position and that's only momentarily. The rest of the marketers must wait for their chance to rise up to at least fifth position, on the search engines. Practically no one ever remains at top position, on the search engines and if they do, they must "submit their first born child" (That was only a joke to imply the incredible monetary and contextual challenge of being involved with Paid Per Click Advertising). the impracticality of Paid Per Click Advertising permeates my thoughts with memories of being hustled.

The down side of News Paper Advertising is when you have to run a lot of ads in order to get a discount. Then the classified advertising manager may say you can't get a "tear sheet." A tear sheet is evidence the ad ran. Sometimes the discount advertising managers claim they can't give a tear sheet. Sometimes they claim that the quantity of different papers are so numerous, they can't keep up with all the insertions. I personally think a reply, like that is rubbish. When ever running ads do your best to try and get physical proof your ads ran. Your physical proof is a "tear sheet." Get an actual copy of the advertisement, as it ran in your desired paper. News Paper advertising can be profitable, when done carefully.

How to Be Good at Giving Bad News in the Workplace

Workplace shootings and other types of workplace violence have received much attention in the media recently. Though the circumstances surrounding these incidents vary, these violent workplace episodes are often the result of situations in which employees, customers, or other individuals are the recipients of bad news. An example would be an employee who was fired, laid off, or failed a drug test, and reacted negatively to the news.

For many of us, giving bad news is part of our jobs. Unfortunately, when you deliver bad news, you may trigger agitated or even aggressive behavior from the recipient.

According to a fact sheet recently released by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2008 there were 421 workplace shootings and 30 multiple-fatality workplace homicide incidents. Of these, 12 percent involved coworkers and former coworkers as the assailants.

Almost half of these shootings occurred in public buildings; most occurred in the private sector. Eighty-eight percent of the incidents occurred in service-providing industries.

There are ways to deliver bad news while defusing a potential crisis and helping the recipient retain a sense of dignity. Whether you have to give bad news to a client, resident, patient, or coworker, follow these guidelines to prepare in advance and present the information in a way that is tactful and minimizes the possibility of negative reactions.

Prepare your workplace. Consider the furniture arrangement in your workspace. Ensure that it is set up so that you can exit easily if necessary. Don't ever turn your back on a person who is agitated or angry.

Prepare yourself. When you deliver bad news, be prepared for the possibility of being blamed or insulted if the person takes her anger or disappointment out on you. Try to stay in control and not take these reactions personally. If you become angry, that will only further agitate the other person.

Allow the other person to vent. Without offering advice or judging his behavior, let the recipient release his feelings.

Preserve the other person's dignity. Deliver bad news privately whenever possible. You can still ask another person to be present as a safety precaution. Always be polite and respectful.

Be objective. Present information in a straightforward but tactful manner. Keep it short and simple.

Listen with empathy. Imagine how you would feel if you were on the receiving end of the bad news. Allow the other person to share her feelings, but don't get defensive or drawn into an argument.

Offer something. If possible, try to present solutions to the problem. The other person may not be open to suggestions immediately, but he may consider an alternative later. If nothing else, you can always offer him dignity and respect.

The first is to buffer the news. Watch something funny before. Since the news usually ends on upbeat notes, that should keep your mood up. Another technique is to do something while you watch the news, so that you don't spend all of your focus on the news. Read a book or do a crossword while watching the news. In this era where information can be an extremely powerful and strategic asset, whether to individuals or corporations, and information equals money, especially for a trader, shutting yourself off from news can be suicidal. The Forex market is extremely sensitive to the flow of news that is related to it, and major short-term currency moves are almost always preceded by changes in fundamental views influenced by the news. Traders around the world make a living by processing and translating information into money. Financial news services providers know how important news is to the Forex market players, and charge a premium for it. It is not uncommon to get hundreds of headlines of news that are potentially relevant to Forex trading from any news service provider on an average trading day.

Traders, especially those who day trade the Forex market, require the latest up-to-the-second news updates so as to facilitate their trading decisions which have to be made at lightning speed. They mostly make use of online financial newswire services such as Dow Jones Newswires, Bloomberg and Reuters, which display the latest financial news on their computer monitors. No doubt, you have already heard about the Mortgage Modification Plan that President Obama introduced in February 2009. This was one of his first initiatives upon entering office. Pro Wrestling News - WWE Wrestlemania 24 Preview With Predictions

The pro wrestling business is gearing up for the last event of its long season. Wrestlemania XXIV is live on PPV Sunday, March 30th at 7 PM ET. Time to preview the matches with predictions!

ECW 24-man Battle Royal

This match was once scheduled for the main show but got moved to the pre-show. You can watch it on wwe.com at 6:30 PM EST. It includes wrestlers from WWE Raw, Smackdown and ECW. It has the potential to be a decent battle royal if it weren't for the presence of 'monsters' like Great Khali and Big Daddy V. Kane seems the best choice to win and go on to face Chavo Guerrero on the main Wrestlemania show, so I'll say that Kane wins here.

ECW Title Match - Chavo Guerrero (c) vs. Kane

The winner of the 24-man battle royal goes on to face Chavo in this match, and that will most likely be Kane. WWE has traditionally drops all of their world titles to faces at Wrestlemania, but this one I'm not so sure about. They may leave the belt on Chavo to try and legitimize his reign, but in reality they've ran out of opposition for him on ECW and he hasn't done anything with the belt other than maintain ECW's dismal ratings. I'm going to predict that Kane wins the ECW Title here to take it in a new direction.

Money in the Bank Ladder Match - Mr. Kennedy vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Jericho vs. Carlito vs. MVP vs. CM Punk vs. John Morrison

Jeff Hardy was once booked to be in this match, but is on a 60-day suspension due to failing a Wellness Policy test.. This match promises to be one of the top 3 or 4 wrestling matches of the evening, and they may open the show with it. Predictions are hard here, but I'll be rooting for CM Punk.. Shelton Benjamin could pull up an upset win and go on to feud for the ECW Title. MVP could win and go on to face Undertaker for the Smackdown Title. My official prediction here will be Mr. Kennedy. He's seemed ready to step into the main event for some time now.

Bunny Mania - Ashley Massaro & Maria vs. Beth Phoenix & Melina

This wrestling match will be exciting and entertaining in all the wrong ways. Maria is in Playboy and they'll be trying to sell copies of that, but they don't want to weaken Beth Phoenix. Maria manages to pin Melina after around 6 minutes.

Belfast Brawl - JBL vs. Finlay

This match won't be a pretty wrestling match, to say the least. Both men will probably blade, we'll see an appearance from the leprechaun himself, but finally JBL will pin Finlay after hitting him with some weapon. Finlay's small push will finally come to an end.

Smackdown vs. Raw Match - Batista vs. Umaga

Umaga won't win clean, so Batista will most likely win. This match will actually be better than expected, as Umaga is a better wrestler than many people think. Batista beats Umaga with a nice looking Batista Bomb, getting the first choice for Smackdown in a draft yet to come that you don't yet know about.

Career Threatening Match - Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels

This wrestling match hopefully lives up to the hype and is amazing. Flair will pull all the stops he has learned the past 40 years in this match, but eventually all good things must end, and Shawn Michaels will finally pin Flair after the Sweet Chin Music. The crowd will show their appreciation to Flair with a standing ovation.

The Big Show vs. Floyd Mayweather

This match won't end up with a lot of substance. The end sees The Big Show hit Mayweather with a weak looking chokeslam and pin him, after which the boxer is never heard from in the wrestling world again.

WWE Title Match: Randy Orton (c) vs. John Cena vs. Triple H

This will be a good and long match, with all three guys trying to show each other up. Randy Orton has been a great heel champion, but Cena only dropped the title due to an injury, so the title will go back to Cena. John Cena beats Randy Orton with the FU. Orton and Triple H need to work out their differences after Wrestlemania before a number one contender can be determined.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Edge (c) vs. Undertaker

The Undertaker will finally get the long title reign that he deserves. He'll keep the strap for probably 8-9 months or maybe up to a year after he wins at Wrestlemania, so it will be interesting to see if Smackdown shows much improvement. This will most liekly be a very good 4 1/2 star wrestling match, with Undertaker showing how much he really has left in him.

And that's the end of my predictions for the final pro wrestling event of WWE's season, Wrestlemania!

Latest News on the Dog Food Recall

On April 24th, 2007 Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance Inc. issued a voluntary recall on several of their pet food products after receiving a half dozen reports in the same day regarding animals falling ill after consuming the food. Melamine, the same chemical that contaminated wheat gluten in hundreds of foods that have been recalled over the last month, was detected in the rice protein samples.

Since then, importer and distributor Wilbur-Ellis has issued a complete recall of all rice protein that entered the country from manufacturers Binzhou Futian Biological Technology in China.

On April 2nd, when shipment was received by Wilbur-Ellis, most of the rice protein was bagged in the usual white bags except one pink bag that was clearly marked melamine. It was thought at that time that it was a limited incident and that all infected products were recalled. However, melamine has since been discovered in all of the rice protein in that shipment and the FDA is testing all eight shipments of rice protein that has entered the US since July 2006.

New Jersey's Foreclosure News Has A Silver Lining - Sort Of

It has been difficult to put a positive spin on the foreclosure crisis gripping this country, but the news out of New Jersey gives the impression that although all is not well at least the bleeding has slowed down somewhat.

According to RealtyTrac, last month 215 homes were foreclosed on, representing a 25% increase from June and a 65% increase from July of last year, which is a small number when compared to the previous month and against the same period last year. The president of one New Jersey real estate research firm has said while the increase appears large; the number of homes foreclosed on is still quite small when compared against the total number.

The major factor contributing to the problem remains the same as it is across the country. Homeowners who purchased or refinanced mortgages using adjustable rate loans just a couple years ago are now going through the reset periods on those loans. They are seeing their interest rates climb which in turn increases their mortgage payments. Many of these borrowers are in the sub-prime category putting them at higher risk to default on their home loan as they typically had moderate credit to begin with. For those homeowners already treading the edge of the financial abyss this was the nudge they needed to complete their fall.

All is not gloom and doom as there may be relief on the horizon as the state government has recognized the need, and urgency, to offer assistance to any New Jersey homeowner facing foreclosure. There has been call for a consumer hotline to be established. Homeowners facing foreclosure could call in for advice and counseling. A recent search has revealed this suggestion has not been put into motion.

As the sub-prime lending market continues its collapse across the nation residents of New Jersey are still faced with the possibility of losing their homes through foreclosure with seemingly little in the way of outside help available now or in the near future. Journalism 100 - News Article Writing Crash Course

Writing a news article is a bit different than maybe an English essay. Whether you're a newbie to news scene, or the rusty old journalism major, here is a good crash course in news writing.

First of all, a news article always begins with a lead. A lead is the first sentence, and tells the entire story in 25 words or less. A lead answers: who, what, when, where, why and how. Not all questions are applicable to every story, so not every lead will answer all of them.

Once you have a lead, write the rest in inverted pyramid. News articles are written like an upside down triangle. The most important details are first, trickling down to the least important by the end.

Inverted pyramid serves two purposes. First, readers are pressed for time. They may have to walk away at any second. By giving the most important details first, they will still have gotten the story even if they can't finish your article. Secondly, in the land of publishing, advertising is king. If an advertiser wants more space, layout designers don't have time to rewrite your article to make the ad fit. Instead, articles are written so the last few lines can be cut and not kill your piece.

Tips:
Remember: K.I.S.S = Keep it Simple Stupid. News articles are written at an eighth grade level. Don't use a big word when a small one will do.

1. Study news articles. Websites like MSN, AOL, and Yahoo have great feature articles. Read them regularly.

2. Pay attention to the way they are structured and try mimic their rhythm and tone.

3. Write tight. This means, be concise. Feature stories allow more creativity, but mainly, journalism is about space. Say as much as possible, in as little space as possible. Don't use two words when one will do.

4. Get an AP Style Manual. News articles are written in AP Style. A style manual will answer any technical questions you may have.

Summary of World Trade News

Once again, it's that time of the week to catch up on the latest happenings in the world of international trade. To start off this week's world trade news round up, Proctor and Gamble recently announced that they will cut down jobs that cover technical posts.

About 300 scientists and researchers are expected to be let go from the multimillion pharmaceutical company's payroll. The research center located in Ohio will be the most affected by Proctor and Gamble's decision. The downsizing will also affect employees in London, Toronto and New York.

According to Tom Milkin, the spokesperson for Proctor and Gamble, the decision was not influenced by the desire to cut back on company cost. He said that the company's move to let their employees go is a business strategy. Milkin added that despite the numerous job losses, this decision will benefit domestic research companies.

Job cuts aren't the only decisions that the company has made this month. Proctor and Gamble recently signed a contract with Nastech to sell Nastach's nasal spray that promises to cure osteoporosis. Aside from the expansion of Nastach's nasal spray, Proctor and Gamble is said to give more focus in developing pharmaceutical products for women, muscular-skeletal problems and gastro-intestinal medicine.

While Tom Milkin denied that the Proctor and Gamble is not having any financial trouble, the head of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas, admitted that his government is currently facing financial difficulties.

Earlier this month, the World Bank has given the Palestinian Authority a warning about the country's financial problem. Palestine's budget deficit is continuously expanding and if the necessary procedures aren't taken to ease the crisis, this could possibly be the downfall of the Palestinian Government.

The origin of Palestine's financial crisis is traced to the violent events in the West Bank against Israel. Israel has taken measures to slowly cripple the Palestinian Government. Security checks between the boarders of Israel and the Gaza Strip. Israel went as far as banning the passage of equipments for the Palestinian security forces and even asking all foreign donors to stop sending payments to the Palestinian Authority. Israel is adamant in letting the Palestine Government suffer; calling on international powers to boycott the Palestinian Government and ignoring calls from the United States to release funds.

Another factor that has influenced financial crisis Palestine is experiencing right now is the election victory of the radical Islamist group Hamas. This group is considered as terrorist by the United States and the Palestinian Authority's biggest donor, the European Union. In fear of their donations reaching Hamas, the United States asked Palestine to return its $50 million donation and the European Union has warned to stop sending funds.

To make up for the loss, Ismail Haniyeh, the Palestinian Prime Minister, said that they will seek aid to Arab nations instead.

As answer to the criticism he received from the United States, Hugo Chavez warned that to halt the supply of oil to the US if Condoleeza Rice continues to undermind his administration. Rice previously released statements that the relationship of Venezuela and Cuba endangers the democratic system of other Latin countries. Chavez also faced accusations of using Venezuelan oil to interfere with trades of nearby nations. Chavez said that the Americans' attempt to turn other nations against Venezuela would be a failure. Chavez doesn't consider stopping the supply of oil to the US as a loss; in fact it is the US that will face a loss because they are dependent on Venezuela's oil supply. He is confident that other oil consuming countries will continue to acquire oil from Venezuela.

On other oil related events, nine foreign oil workers have been held hostage by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta. The hostages consisted of three Americans, two Thais, two Egyptians, one Filipino, and one Briton all working under a Shell subcontractor, Willbros. The rebels claim that they have staged the hostage situation in order to keep foreigners from getting their oil and to reclaim the Nigeria's rightful share of the country's oil assets. Though Nigeria is the biggest oil producer in Africa, the country is still experiencing severe poverty.

This situation caused dramatic oil hikes in different countries such as Japan because the export of crude oil from Nigeria has been cut back by twenty percent. Some operations have also been suspended because of this.

Still on the talk of oil, Petroecuador, Ecuador's national oil company, has decided to suspend their exportation of petroleum products because of the sabotage that the Trans-Ecuadorian pipeline has experienced. The numerous violent demonstrations are held responsible for the sabotage of Petroecuadors major pipeline.

Eduardo Naranjo, the company's top executive, said that the pipeline was completely paralyzed and oil stations have been severely damaged because of the demonstrations. These violent protests, including putting up roadblocks, were participated by Napo (a poverty-stricken province in Ecuador) residents and other Amazon Indians. This caused the production of 144,000 barrels of oil per day to be discontinued. The suspension of oil export will cause Ecuador an estimated $ 30 million worth of revenue daily. The demonstrators demanded that the Ecuadorian government should give poor areas like Napo their fair share of the National budget.

Speaking of giving its fair share, the United State criticized China for not giving theirs. According US Deputy Trade Representative Karan Bhatia, China has been gaining profits from their access in the US market while the US has yet to benefit from their trading relationship.

Rob Portman, US Deputy Trade Representative, stated that a task force will be assigned by the US to monitor China's observance to global trade policies. There have been proposals made by legislators to lower US trade relations with China. Tariffs will also be imposed on low-priced products from China that is flooding the US market.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Qin Gang said that if such policies are implemented, these could prove to be unfavorable for American business interest. Analysts agree, saying that these actions could backfire at the United State government.

Although the United States is unhappy with their trade relation with China, the same cannot be said for Anglo American. The company's profits reach a new high when China's demand for metal increased. Their earning last year ($ 3.7 million) increased by 39% compared to their 2004 total earning. The company is plans on expanding its production of coals and iron ore because the price of metal products is expected to increase this year. The company's chief executive officer, Tony Trabar, sees indications for the stronger demand for metals.

Anglo American isn't the only company currently expanding its products. IBM has released multifunction printers to the market recently. IBM's new brainchild is capable of faxing, copying, and printing documents. The design for the multifunction printer was influenced by a study which shows that a significant amount of time is exhausted by companies on printing, copying and faxing documents.

Currently, there are four models out in the market, each designed to different capacities of workload. The Infoprint 1540 and Infoprint 1570 can be used by small companies. These printers cost $11,542 and $3,259, respectively. Medium sized companies can use the Infoprint 1560 which costs $12,858 and for large companies, the Infoprint 1580 is designed to handle rough office environment. The Infroprint 1580 costs around $14,462.

Product expansion isn't the only growth the world market is seeing these days. The growth of European Union members is set to accelerate by 2006. According to the forecast made by the European Commission, 25 members of the union are expected to have a 2.2% economic growth, while 12 others are expected to grow by 1.9%.

Among European countries, Spain saw the largest growth projecting a 3.1% boost in their economy. A far second is the United Kingdom with a 2.4% economic growth. Joaquin Almunia, European Union's Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner, warned that the biggest set back in the economic growth of European nations are the inevitable increase of the price of oil.

In other European news, an announcement was made by Germany's E.ON regarding its 27.50 euros per share or 29.1 billion euros offer to Spain's Endesa. The deal is expected to be completed this year if Endesa will accept E.ON's offer. The biggest European power firm E.ON's business offer to Endesa is said to be 29% higher the Gas Natural's previous bid.

If the merge of these two power companies take place, 50 million clients in 30 nations will be served by a potentially top power company in the world. The merge will also put E.ON on the lead over its competitors and provide the company a stronger position in the Latin American markets.

Another business deal is in the works. It is between Dubai Ports World and the United States. Dubai Ports World wants to run six major seaports in the United States. Speaking of President Bush, it has been announced that he will be visiting Asian countries in November. Bush will be the second president of the United States to ever visit Vietnam, the first being former president Clinton back in 2000. It should be remembered that Clinton made the decision to stop the embargo against Vietnam. Incidentally, Vietnam missed a place in the World Trade Organization last year when the spot was given to Tonga. Although it should be noted that being a member of the WTO could boost Vietnam's economy, it doesn't necessarily mean that not being able to join is a bad thing. There are a lot of things Vietnam needs to organize before become a WTO member.

For the 14th consecutive time, the interest rate of the United States Federal Reserve increased once again. The meeting held last month saw Alan Greenspan as the head of United States Federal Reserve for the last time after heading the Federal Reserve for 18 years. During Greenspan's tenure in the Federal Reserve, he encountered numerous low points in the US market history. His administration faced the market crash of 1987, the market crisis of the 90's and the September 11 attacks.

Greenspan was replaced by Ben Bernanke which was nominated by the president of the United States last year. The new chairman will discuss the interest rate issue in his first meeting which will be held on March 27. Bernanke's biggest challenge is ending the increase of interest rates which economists think will continue to rise because of the current inflation.

In more recent turn of events, a bank robbery saw The Securitas Cash Management Ltd. lose at least $ 43.5 million. Officials are still unsure just how much cash is still unaccounted for. It should be noted that this is one of the biggest back heists in the history of Britain.

In a detailed statement, it was revealed that the robbers dressed as policemen blocked the bank managers on his way home and was told to do what he was ordered. Another group of men in cahoots with the bank robbers were successful making the manager's family believe he met and accident and agreed to go with the group of robbers.

The manager was cuffed by the posing policemen and threatened to hurt his family if he did not cooperate. They proceeded to a Tonbridge cash center and tied up 15 bank employees before taking all the cash in the depot. The incident took over and hour, fortunately no one was hurt.

On a more positive note, it seems that an alliance has been formed by international banks, which includes the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, to employ carefully though out strategies to combat corruption. These organizations have reached an understanding for the need to support each other and to reach a common ground if the corruption is to be stopped. They have decided to form a team that will be responsible for reporting a standardized framework the financial firms should employ to fight fraud. The group has conducted numerous surveys pin-pointing countries and sectors that is plagued with widespread corruption.

The group is also willing to extend to other organizations, civil sectors of different nations, and the media as reinforcements in their quest to put a stop to bank fraud and rampant corruption. To track down plundered wealth and preserve global laws, the United Nations Convention against Corruption was created in 2005.
