1st PBIC: Russia vs. Thailand.

Russia was everyone's favorite. Thailand, considered an underdog, came out swinging and later won the first PBIC Championship. Exciting match. Many considered this to be the best match in the PBIC.

Top 12 Self Introduction Speech Topics

Use this Top 12 self introduction speech topics for if you have to develop a brief self introduction that tells the audience who you are and what you are about.

There are public speaking opportunities in life in which you have to make a good first impression.
The key question for a successful and effective self introduction speech in both occasions is: how much and what information do you want the audience to know about you?

Rule number one is: focus on one speech topic. Do not write an award winning boring autobiography :-)
I recommend you to develop one aspect of your life. That aspect will tell who you are and what you are about.

Some people call this self introduction speech type a one-point speech, because it is based on only one speech idea.

Look at the sample self introduction speech topics below and pick out the aspects of your personal life you want to share with the audience. Approach the list below with the who, what, where, why, how and when questions. It is an effective way to outline your first thoughts for introducing yourself.

2. What is your main personal goal?

3. What do you like very much?

4. What do you hate or dislike?

5. Do you have developed a very special skill?

10. Where you are from? Do your roots reveal something about yourself that is new for the audience? That always works in a speech for self introduction.

11. Is there an object or prop that means a lot to you?

12. What distinguishes you from other individuals?

1915 Lyric Video - Filmed In Thailand

Anti-Flag "1915" Lyric Video - Filmed in Thailand on recent Southeast Asia tour 2012. The General Strike Out everywhere March 20, 2012. Joe Hill may have been the 1st punk rock musician. He didn't have the same aesthetic to his sound, but he certainly had the attitude. He fought diligently for human rights. He questioned nationalism at what we can only believe was it's peak. He inspired so many people while alive and for sure even more after his death. He was killed in November of 1915 by firing squad for what many believe was a murder he did not commit. Joe believed he was worth more to the labour movement as a dead martyr then if he was alive. He was cremated, his ashes placed into around 600 envelopes according to Wobbly (IWW - International Workers of The World) folklore, they were sent many places, sprinkled at places he loved, ingested by our dear friend and legend Billy Bragg, one envelope that read "Joe Hill Murdered By The Capitalist Class" was seized by the US Postal Service in 1917 for its "subversive potential". Often, we have to look backwards for inspiration on how to proceed forward. The song 1915 is us doing just that.

Election Day - 2011 in Jamaica

As people gather all clad in their various party colors of green or orange to vote on this, Jamaica's 2011 election day, the excitement continues to build. So far there is peace and we hope that this remains. I have heard few honks of the horn and whistles blowing as that will be reserved for the grand announcement of the winner; later some will celebrate their parties victory while others will mourn their loss.

To an outsider looking at the days events unfolding you can't help but feel like you are a part of an island wide sports day. People singing, dancing and cheering their team to victory. Guaranteed not many know what their party truly stands for, they simply vote for the party because their mother, father or grandparents used to vote for that party; "their team, is my team". It's like an inheritance.

In the past, election days have been feared due to the violence that ensues when a member of one of the two political parties, The People's National Party (PNP) and Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), believes his/her party lost unjustly and thereby decides to take, sometimes violent, action out on any member of the opposing party.

It must be noted, however, that this type of ignorant behavior is normally seen in the inner cities where education is low and crime is high. In fact most of Jamaica's bad publicity is from the violence that occurs in these small and remote communities.

The air, at the moment is one of peace, as people come, vote and return to their place of employment without incident. Polling stations both Green (JLP) and Orange (PNP) are side by side, no fuss, no arguments, leaving hope for peaceful and uneventful day.

While speaking to two individuals today from opposing parties who were working at the polling stations, both related that they are "promoting a peaceful day and that there is high hope for just such a day even in the inner cities."

For visitors to this beautiful Island, it is just another day. The sun is shinning, the weather is perfect and tours are still running. All stores are open and it's business as usual.

I only hope that whoever takes power today of our little paradise will be able to lead our country in the right direction, educate the people and give them jobs. Hopefully they will not be just great speech makers, as has been the case in the past, and instead take action that is desperately needed.

May the tempers of our passionate people be low and the love for our country run deep.

As is said in our Anthem "To our leaders, great defenders, grant true wisdom from above, justice to be ours forever, Jamaica land we love!"

Thailand floods abuse Bangkok

More than two million people have been affected by widespread flooding in Thailand, in what is the worst monsoon season in 50 years. The country is seeing its second month of flooding. Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes as swollen rivers and flood-control dykes burst. There are now fears that flooding will spread to the capital, Bangkok. Al Jazeera's Wayne Hay reports from Ayutthaya, one of the worst hit areas.
